Platelet Rich Plasma or 'PRP' is the secret weapon in any successful skin rejuvenation treatment. PRP has in fact been around for decades and previously used mainly in wound healing and sports medicine. However, we are now understanding the immense benefits of using PRP for skin rejuvenation.
PRP is your own body’s natural ‘skin booster’ that kick-starts the growth of new collagen and skin cell regeneration. PRP is taken from your own blood, which is then purified and concentrated. First, a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge until the red blood cells separate from the platelets and plasma. PRP, when injected into the skin, releases a huge number of growth factors and signalling molecules to tell your skin to regenerate. The result is smoother, tighter and healthy glowing skin.
PRP can be used to treat:
- Acne and acne scars
- Other types of scars & stretch-marks
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Tightening the Jawline
- Tightening the Neck
- Chest and décolletage
- Rejuvenating hands
- Improve facial volume e.g. cheeks, temples, tear trough
- Pigmentation problems
- General skin quality
- Hair loss and improving hair quality & growth
PRP can also be mixed with Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers for facial volumization or Mesotherapy (vitamins & minerals) for a skin boost.
Procedure: multiple small injections are made into the skin - either in a specific zone or across the whole scalp, face or neck.
Treatment time: 45-60 minutes
Pain relief: none or numbing cream
Post-treatment: There is some redness and slight swelling of the skin, however this settles within a few hours of the treatment. Most people can be back to work either the same day or the next day.
Results: Results are seen from 3-6 weeks post-treatment. For best results, we recommend a course of 3 sessions, 6 weeks apart, followed by 1 treatment a year for maintenance. In some cases, more sessions may be needed to achieve optimal results.
